Quam
Capital Limited
Nature Business: Leisure:
Beijing Ski Area Development
Funds Required: US$12 million
Project Details:
Beijing has a large population with a fast growing
middle class with high disposable incomes available
for leisure and healthy recreational activities.
The first ski area in Beijing opened in January
2000 and since that time the ski market has grown
rapidly year on year. Forecasts predict that this
is likely to continue for at least another decade.
However, existing facilities are quite basic with
limited length slopes, which are generally suited
for beginners only. Our client has over 25 years
of experience in developing ski areas around the
world and for the last three years within China
itself. They have now identified a site close
to the centre of Beijing whose mountain topography
makes it capable of being developed into a ski
area significantly larger than any existing areas
both in terms of slope variety and vertical drop.
Our client is now seeking suitable
partners to co-develop the site and is seeking
to raise outside funding of US$12 million for
development funding. One of the shareholders in
the project will be an existing PRC based operator
of existing ski areas in China.
