Asian groups near deal to expand Dunkin’ Donuts in China

(FT by Jennifer Hughes) – One of Asia’s biggest private equity funds has teamed up with a Philippines restaurant chain to roll out Dunkin’ Donuts in China in the latest example of a western brand seeking growth in the world’s second-largest economy.

As well as exclusive rights over the brand in Hong Kong and Macau, the Dunkin’ deal gives the joint venture rights to expand in a number of mainland provinces including Fujian, Hunan, Jianxi and Guangdong as well as in the cities of Tianjin, Beijing and Chongqing.
