HKVCA is pleased to hold this session jointly with the Association for Corporate Growth (http://www.acg.org/). ACG brings delegates from the USA consisting of LP's, intermediaries and service firms to meet HKVCA members at the "DealSource" session at the AFF. All HKVCA members are invited to participate in the "DealSource" session during the Asian Financial Forum 2009 (AFF).

The "DealSource" session is a series of speed-dating-type meetings between HKVCA members and ACG members.  Representatives rotate after every 20-minute short meetings. It is a structured networking event aimed at matching opportunities with potential investors, leading to increased investment transactions and long term business relationships.

West China Venture Capital & Private Equity Forum 2009

"West China Venture Capital & Private Equity Forum 2009" is a major event to facilitate the reconstruction and development of Sichuan after 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake, spur domestic demand, attract foreign and Chinese VC/PEs attention into the Western China, and promote communication and cooperation between high-tech industry and venture capital.

High tech company making assistive equipment attached to hearing aids.

Project Details:
Logital has made its flagship product, EasyHear, a booster attached to hearing aids, ready for sale globally since September 2008. Worldwide deaf population is now about 10% of total, or 600 million, counting the elderly people. To better exploit such huge market potential, Logital is seeking a total of USD 14 million to construct new production capacities, to establish marketing & distribution channels for such highly specialized product, and to conduct further R&D of integrating EasyHear with hearing aids. EasyHear is a winner of the prestigious Best Digital Inclusion Award 2007.
Logital operates in a highly specialized niche where subsidies are high from the governments to finance equipment purchase by the hearing impaired people. Hence there is no cutthroat competition within the industry.
Budgeted IRR is 120% p.a. over 5 years from 2009 while the ROIC (return on invested capital) of the same 5-year period is 880%. Sales volume are only required in the range of 18,000 units in 2011 to 54,000 units in 2013 (compared with world deaf population of 600 million) to achieve the target of returns.

Joint HKVCA-CHKLC Christmas Drinks, 15 December 2008

HKVCA jointly held its Christmas Drinks Mixer with the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies (CHKLC) on December 15, 2008.  More than 110 attendees from both associations had a great evening mingling with each other and exchanging the latest news on their respective industries.  We were honoured to have Mr. M.T. Shum, CEO of the Financial Reporting Council to share his views on the latest financial reporting standards.  The event instilled a festive mood and participants are looking forward to our next event.

China Enterprises Investment Cooperation Seminar (Co-Organizer: HKVCA), 11 December 2008

The China Enterprises Investment Cooperation Seminar was held on Dec 11, 2008. HKVCA was represented by Ms. Alice Chow from Squadron Capital Advisors Ltd and Ms. Athene Li from Spring Capital Asia Ltd. Ms. Chow gave excellent advice on how to get access to potential investors. Ms. Li spoke about the criteria investors use to evaluate investment opportunities and the issues faced by both entrepreneurs and investors. The event was well-attended by executives, entrepreneurs and investors from the Fujian province who gained a deeper understanding of the PE industry.
